It is customary to hide a pickle among the branches of the tree on Christmas Eve. The first child on Christmas Day to find the Christmas pickle receives an extra gift! The reason for the different sizes of the pickle is for the age of the children. The largest pickle is for the toddler. Slowly add ½ the water while stirring. Slowly add more water and continuing to mix and blend, until it creates a ball of dough that is firm and just soft enough to knead. (The exact amount of water will depend on the moisture content of the flour as well as the general humidity in your home as you prepare the recipe.) Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Use cookie cutters and other shaping materials to shape and cut out the dough. Use a straw or wiggle a paper clip into your dough to make a hole in the center for hanging.<br /><br />"Bake at 250 to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 1/2 to 3 hours. The lower the temperature the longer, but with the higher temperature you run the risk of browning. Of course, there’s no harm in browning them if you don’t mind the color, or if you are going to cover them completely with paint. "<br /><br />Once they are out of the oven let them cool. I like to sand the edges a little with some sand paper. May sure you brush away all of the crumbs.<br /><br />We like to use a glaze as a beautiful finishing touch to the ornament. Sculpy makes a shiny and matte finish glaze, or you can also use mod podge or a epoxy resin.<br /><br />*Remember that the dough will begin to lose its ability to hold fine detail after about an hour.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">**Every year our little family likes to handcraft and paint ornaments. (I'm justifying this...can you tell?).<br /><br />Can you help with any advice or tips?<br /></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/SxTbCHEND6I/AAAAAAAAA0s/Mm2OGvNaTOI/s1600/Pictures133.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/SxTbCHEND6I/AAAAAAAAA0s/Mm2OGvNaTOI/s400/Pictures133.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5410189881681711010" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">(Mike and I on our honeymoon at Disneyland nearly 12 years ago....ohhhh...we look so young!<br />And yes...overalls WERE cool during that time! )</div>{Pink Igloo Designs}http://www.blogger.com/profile/11046420001994973586noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-992357947861455390.post-50104961775193296492009-11-20T09:44:00.004-09:002009-11-20T10:12:02.911-09:00How To Make A Custom Desktop Background<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/Swbj7gya3MI/AAAAAAAAA0c/9p8XJi0jY7Y/s1600/Screen+Size.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 250px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/Swbj7gya3MI/AAAAAAAAA0c/9p8XJi0jY7Y/s400/Screen+Size.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5406259014258056386" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/Swbj7Eso4xI/AAAAAAAAA0U/bda4mf2ElWM/s1600/Screen+Size2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 210px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/Swbj7Eso4xI/AAAAAAAAA0U/bda4mf2ElWM/s400/Screen+Size2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5406259006717616914" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">1. Whew!<div style="text-align: center;">Somehow I find myself helping out with Super Saturday every year (hence the real name of my blog..."Everyday is a super Saturday". Sometimes I'm roped into it, sometimes I can't help but Volunteer. So here we are another year, another Super Saturday.<br /><br />Here are some of the crafts we did this year. (Hopefully after things slow down with my Holiday craft fairs, I will post some tuts!)<br /><br />(For those of you who don't know what a super Saturday is, It's a day when our church members get together to have a big crafting day. Cheap projects = Fabulous Christmas Presents!)<br /><br />A great day had by all!<br /><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/SvdeEmtPX5I/AAAAAAAAAys/cYQ8o0qOe6Q/s1600-h/Bottle+Cap+Magnets.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; I am in need of a little help. I am wondering why my blog is popping up at the bottom of other craft blogger's "LINKS TO THIS POST". I have the people listed in my sidebar, but not necessarily linking directly to that post. Do YOU know why this is happening? I feel so embarrassed because they keep emailing me asking to move them, and I don't know how, or why they got there in the first place. Any suggestions? If you are one of those blog's whom I am speaking about, I am truly sorry!{Pink Igloo Designs}http://www.blogger.com/profile/11046420001994973586noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-992357947861455390.post-62577321663567980102009-10-28T08:08:00.003-08:002009-10-28T08:15:53.958-08:00Been A Little Busy!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/Suht2ysaauI/AAAAAAAAAxo/rolYpGCuaUo/s1600-h/IMG_8098.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/Suht2ysaauI/AAAAAAAAAxo/rolYpGCuaUo/s400/IMG_8098.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397684941491956450" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/Suht2Rn4SVI/AAAAAAAAAxg/ZHeTSjG84G0/s1600-h/IMG_8097.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7hhXI2bkwCk/Suht2Rn4SVI/AAAAAAAAAxg/ZHeTSjG84G0/s400/IMG_8097.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397684932614572370" border="0" /></a><br />Sorry for not posting much these past few weeks! I've been so busy preparing for craft fairs and bazaars, that I haven't had much time for anything else. My November is pretty much booked between Super Saturday's and the craft fairs, so I'm not sure how much I'll be posting. But I'll try and come up with a few fun things to blog about between now and then! Simply cut images down to size to fit into the 2.55 x 3.35 badge holder. Because these have great quotes on the other side, I made sure to center the quotes when cutting.<br /><br />*I also included a custom name picture on the front of my badge album. I just opened up a picture in Photoshop and placed my text on top, printed to size, then placed in the front cover.<br />Add all pictures to the holders. Once this is finished place the rings in pre-punched hole area.<br /><br />*Tie your favorite ribbon around the rings.<br /><br />*Enjoy!<br /><br /><br /><span style="font-size:85%;"><span style="font-style: italic;">*Please always remember to give credit where credit is due.
