Fabric Ornaments

Small scraps of fabric torn into strips

Mod Podge

Foam Brush

Any round Ornament

1-Tear your fabric into long strips

2- Apply a generous amount of mod podge on your ornament.

(Any round ornament will do)

3-Quickly wrap the fabric around your ornament before the mod podge dries. If you need to you can apply it as you go.

*You can also do a final coat of mod podge over the fabric if you'd like to seal it. But it doesn't keep the soft fabric texture look.

Homemade Sweet Pea Costume

I made this for my daughter when she was a baby. Her nick name was "Princess Pea". We thought that it would make a cute costume. Way back when (7 years ago) I had a hard time finding any cute pea costumes so I decided to make one.

(I'm sure you can figure this out just by looking at it)

I just took a pair of "Carters" pajamas and undid the embroidered decal of the dinosaur on the front. Then I sewed the little "Peas" and stuffed them with batting, then sewed them to the pajamas. Next, I glued a piece of plastic Ivy to make it look like a pea vine. Then I just made the hat to match, and I added a little plastic Ivy to that.

DOWNLOAD Punkinhead Font HERE

Cut the wood into a 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 1 1/4" square. Sand the wood using a hand sander or sand paper. Dust off the wood. Paint the wood your desired color (I used 3 different orange variations). My blocks needed two coats of paint. Let dry.

Download and install the free Punkinhead font. Using your vinyl plotter cut out desired pumpkin faces making sure to fit the correct wood dimensions. If you don't have a vinyl plotter, cut out shapes on black construction paper.

Once your wood block is dry sand the edges and add antiquing ink. You can choose to spray with a shiny or matte finish clear spray. Let dry.

Once the wood is completely dry, add your vinyl (or paper).You can finish the block by adding a ribbon, tulle, or cut out a wooden stem and glue to the top.

Variations:
*Add scrapbooking paper to the wood using mod podge.
*Add glitter to your project for a sparkle you will LOVE!

*Coordinating Ribbon

*This is similar to what your image packet will look like. Simply cut images down to size to fit into the 2.55 x 3.35 badge holder. Because these have great quotes on the other side, I made sure to center the quotes when cutting.

*I also included a custom name picture on the front of my badge album. I just opened up a picture in Photoshop and placed my text on top, printed to size, then placed in the front cover.
Add all pictures to the holders. Once this is finished place the rings in pre-punched hole area.

*Tie your favorite ribbon around the rings.

Sunday Snack Bar

(if all else fails, it makes a really cool airplane)

Buy a craft container from walmart/joanns, etc ($1-3). You can also buy small plastic fishing tackle boxes from your local hardware store.
Fill each empty space with small finger foods for your child (age appropriate of course)

-Chocolate Chips
-Little Fishy Crackers
-Mini Marshmallows
-Raisins
-Fruit Snacks
-All kinds of cereal (cheerios, kix, lucky charms,)
-Peanuts
-Craisins
-Small Crackers

*This really helps my two year old quiet down in church. He loves the variety of snacks to choose from. Life saver...seriously!

*My container is actually "Child proof" so he can't get into it all by himself. It's also nice because it won't spill in his diaper bag. You just need to push in the button on the side while opening the container.

Make your OWN story board

Start out by picking your favorite frame. Or...maybe you have a REALLY sweet husband like mine who will MAKE a customized one for you! I knew what size I wanted so I gave my hubby the dimensions, and he went right to work.

Measure the inside dimensions of the frame where the picture will lay.

Using your favorite photo editing program (PSE, Photoshop, Gimp Etc.) you'll begin to make your own story board. Or, you can go to the Coffee Tea Photography blog and download one of her MANY free storyboard templates & Actions HERE. If you'd like to make your own custom storyboard you can read a great tutorial HERE on how to make your own clipping mask. I opened up a new file and set my dimensions to match the inside of my frame which was 8" x 20". Then I made my own clipping masks, and added my pictures to the masks. Add the perfect personalized touch by including a favorite quote or family motto.

We have a local Sams club that prints large prints in under an hour. I noticed they had a

16" x 20" poster size for under $6. So I reopened my print I did in Photoshop and instead of a

8" x 20" I made two prints to fit a 16" x 20". (see picture below)

This is what the print looked like when I got it back from Sams.

Then I cut it into two prints. One for me, and one for the hubby's office! Next we cut the glass to fit the frame. Then added my pict, and backing of the frame. Ready to go!

Just showing another example of what you can do. Get inspired by other storyboard layouts by googling them. There are some really cute ideas out there!

The best part is that it has NO BATTING and it is made from recycled jeans. The Back side just finishes itself. Maybe one day when I have the time, I'll attempt to write my own tutorial.

Supplies:

Wood Cutout

Modge Podge

Scissors

Glue Gun

Safety plugs

Antiquing/Distressing Ink

Scrapbooking Paper

Paint & Sponge Brush

Sandpaper

You can buy pre-cut wood shapes or cut your own. Sand the wood until smooth. Paint the sides and the back of the wood (You may need a couple of layers of paint). In the meantime, trace the wood cutout onto scrapbooking paper. Cut out the shape on the scrapbooking paper. If your paint is completely dry, "paint" the modge podge on the front of the wood cut out. Quickly add the pre-cut scrapbooking paper. Once the modge podge is dry (make sure you smooth out any air bubbles). Add a few layers of modge podge on top of the scrapbooking paper. Let it dry completely. Sand any edges that you would like to give a distressed look to. Add the distressing ink around the edges of the sanded wood.

I found it easiest to plug the safety plug in first then add the wood because you can position the plug on the wood however you want. (you can decide if you want the safety plug up high, centered, or on the lower part of the wood.) Then with your hot glue gun, add the glue to the part of the safety plug that will be glued to the wood cutout. The add your wood cutout. Let it dry before removing from the outlet.

Where have I been?

Holy smokes am I behind!! I've had such great intentions of posting all the fun crafts I've been doing, but I haven't had the time.
I am currently working on a request of headbands, bows and such! I'm nearly finished and it'll be posted soon. But as for now, check out a few of my latest projects I've been doing (for my craft class).

Addi & I saw a project similar to this on Martha Stewart, so we took time to make Addi her own "Smelly Doll" named Rosabelle. If you would like the instructions (they don't have the doll template, you'll have to make your own) you can find them HERE.

However Addi and I added an extra special touch to make her a doll that smelled good. So we added a touch of laundry detergent (gain) and a dryer sheet inside the doll along with the polyfill. This is the finished product!
